Dear Wine Club:

Welcome to Spring, the season when vines begin to flower in the northern hemisphere and harvest and wine pressings commence in the southern hemisphere! Your bundles this month will feature two wines of the same variety (grape) that are from an old world terroir (France) and a new world region (domestic). Terroir is only part of the equation to producing the wines. Types of barreling and fermentation will expose flavors of the wine differently, so it's not accurate to suggest these are perfect replicas of each other. Instead, tasting them side by side, you'll understand similarities between them and recognize how the vinification brings out unique characterstics. All of these have aging potential if you don't want to drink them now.

Left to Right: Monte Rio Cellars Chardonnay, Domaine Rolet Arbois Chardonnay, Teutonic Wine Company Pinot Noir, and Bitouezt-Prieur Borgogne Passetoutgrains.
